57 Families Initiative

THE 57 FAMILIES initiative honors the 57th anniversary of Kwanzaa by bringing the spirit of Kwanzaa directly into the home of families by providing Kwanzaa Kits, free of cost to the families. We believe in the power of community and the transformative impact that celebrating Kwanzaa can have and would love for you to be apart of this initiative. Our end goal is to provide Kwanzaa Kits to 57 families, fostering a sense of community, cultural awareness, and joy during the festive season by raising $8,000.

Motor City Kwanzaa Kinara

The Motor City  Kinara sits in the heart of Detroit at Campus Martius every December. At our inaugural MCK lighting in 2022, we gathered over 600 supporters as live performers, speakers, and the lighting of the Kinara helped us kick off the Kwanzaa season with festive and communal energy!

the Motor City Kinara is an inclusive, powerful symbol of African American culture, community and heritage. EVERY YEAR WE invite everyone to embrace, celebrate and acknowledge our beloved holiday of Kwanzaa.

The 2023 motor city kwanzaa kianra lighting will be held at campus Marius ON DECEMBER 26, from 3pm-5pm. THERE WILL BE LIVE PERFORMANCES, AFRICAN MARKETPLACE VENDORS, KWANZAA STORY COLLECTORS, AND ENGAGING ACTIVITIES FOR ALL. wE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU THERE!
